As part of the post 2015 consultations, UNESCO led a global education thematic consultative meeting at Le Meridien Hotel in Dakar on 18 and 19 March 2013.

The aim of the meeting was to review progress in education since 200, identify emerging priorities and cross- cutting issues, and outline options for ensuring that education is effectively addressed in a new development framework after 2015. The meeting was organized by UNESCO and UNICEF with the support of the Government of Senegal, Canada and Germany.

Over 200 participants from civil society, government donors and international organisations, participated in the meeting. The stakeholders agreed that to ensure an expanded vision of education that ensures equitable access to education from pre-school to higher education. During the meeting ANCEFA and other civil society networks like Education International, EI, ICAE and GCE pushed for recognition of the right to education for all. The outcomes of the meeting will feed into future consultative meetings and reports on the post 2015 framework.
